Operations Officer
General Description: The Operations Officer is responsible for monitoring and managing guaranteed containers life cycle to ensure timely and safe return in order to minimize possible demurrage, damage and total loss. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. – Liaise with customers to ensure accountability of all containers under guarantee. This may include liaising with container depots, truckers and shipping lines. – Monitoring and tracking containers to ensure safe and timely repositioning – Develop and deploy system to ensure customers effectively communicate removal, repositioning, damage, loss or occurrence of any incidence that could affect fulfillment of their container obligations. – Provide up to date status report of all containers under guarantee. – Support Commercial team by providing information from the logistics space – Assess challenges hindering customers from complying with the container obligations and develop possible solutions – Promptly flag and alert the AR functions of potential default of container guarantee obligations. – Assist in recovery of lost containers Investigate cases of default on container obligations by customers Collaborate with and support commercial and Account receivables functions. – Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time. Qualifications and Education Requirements Required Education: Minimum diploma in Freight Logistics management, Shipping management or related field. Required Experience & Qualifications: – At least three years’ experience in the operational function of the shipping, freight and/or logistics sector. – Experience in the management of shipping containers will be added advantage – Experience in shipping of containers and handling relevant shipping documents in an international trade environment. – Information technology and MS-Office proficiency – Experience in customer management – Problem solving and Analytical Skills – Attention to detail and Organization Skills – Communication and Interpersonal Skills – Must be a Kenyan Personal Attributes: Creativity. Accounts Payable Officer
Role and Responsibilities
General Description:
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
• Reconciles processed transactions by verifying entries and comparing system reports to vendor balances.
• Charges expenses to accounts and costs centres by analysing invoices/ expense reports and recording entries.
• Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities.
• Scheduling and preparing payments, resolving purchase order, contract invoice or payment discrepancies and documentation.
• Ensuring credit is received for outstanding memos.
• Pays employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and requests for advances, preparing payments.
• Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting accounting transactions.
• Maintains historical records by microfilming and filing documents.
• Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
• Disburses petty cash by recording entry and verifying documentation.
• Reports sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices.
• Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Required Education:
• A minimum of Bachelor/Diploma in Accounting and Finance.
• CPA will be added advantage.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
• A minimum of three years in similar roles and industry (preferred)
• Ability to establish and maintain good client relationship at all levels.
• Ability to reconcile accounts and with attention to detail.
• Competence in Microsoft Office especially excel.
• Prior experience with systems (SAP/EXACT will be an added advantage)
• Calm, confident manner to handle potentially uncomfortable conversations.
• High level of integrity and honesty
• Able to work without supervision.
• Good accounting and local Kenyan tax law knowledge
• Kenyan Nationality
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili
