Viaservice Kenya is looking for a Commercial Manager who can drive company’s brand and product performance(1 Position)

Role Summary

The Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing business growth efforts on behalf of a company (Viaservice Kenya). Their duties include conducting market research to identify new business opportunities and client leads, coordinating with company leadership to conduct risk assessments and maintaining beneficial relationships with clients, suppliers, and other business partners.

Core objectives

The development, performance, and maintenance of the commercial processes of the organization to obtain maximum efficiency, quality, service, and profitability for the organization.


  • Responsible and accountable for driving the company’s brand and product performance, including revenue, volume and margin as set out by the management.
  • Overseeing the commercial function of the Company.
  • Formulate and implement Sales and Marketing policies and strategies.
  • Identify business opportunities and pursue in the industry, researching and analyzing sales options.
  • Selling company products by establishing contact and developing relationships with prospects.
  • Manage portfolio of customers and potential customers via personal sales visits, using face-to-face contact to provide a ‘personal service.
  • Maintain relationships with clients & partners by providing support, information, guidance, and service improvements.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and vendors to promote success of activities and enhance the company’s presence.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Prepare and submit commercial reports.
  • Champion the continued development of the company’s Customer Relationship Management system to map customers, stakeholders, end users, trade bodies and industry associations, promoting strong personal relationships with all business influencers.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks
  • Any other duties assigned by the management.

Education Background (minimum)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales and Marketing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce with marketing bias.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration (Marketing or any related field).

Experience Requirement

  • Five (5) years’ experience in commercial and or marketing at a senior level.
  • Good understanding of market research techniques, statistical and data analysis methods
  • Three (3) years’ experience in shipping and/ or freight logistics industry, with good understanding of import/export container lifecycle, documentation, charges etc
  • Sound experience using MS Office/Office 365 and marketing software (e.g., CRM)
  • Experience defining and executing sales and marketing campaigns.
  • Thorough understanding of social media, web analytics and other marketing distribution channels relevant to the logistics industry
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and multi-tasking skills.
